September 29, 2025 — May 3, 2026
The Sacramental Preparation program at Immaculate Conception is offered for those students entering 2nd grade or older. First Reconciliation preparation begins in September and First Communion preparation begins in February.
This is a separate registration from our School of Religion Program. If you are interested in that, you can receive more information here: https://vbspro.events/p/iccsor
Preparation for the reception of the sacraments of Penance, Holy Communion, and Confirmation are facilitated by parishes (instead of schools) according to long standing Archdiocesan policy. Additionally, the Archdiocese requires that children preparing for these sacraments be enrolled either in a Catholic school or in a parish School of Religion program (Sunday School) or an approved homeschool program both during the year of preparation as well as the year immediately prior to preparation.
For children who have been baptized in the Catholic Faith, preparation for the sacraments of Penance and First Communion normally takes place during a child’s second grade year (the year children usually reach “the age of reason”) and begins in September of that year.
For children who have not yet been baptized and are between the ages of seven and seventeen, the preparation program is called Order of Christian Initiation for Adults, adapted for Children. Upon completion of the program, these children will receive the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil.
According to Archdiocesan guidelines, children preparing to celebrate their First Reconciliation and First Communion must be enrolled in either a Catholic school or one of the parish's School of Religion programs (Sunday School) both during the year of preparation as well as the year immediately prior to preparation. In order to prepare for First Holy Communion in the spring, children must first successfully prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Parents are the primary educators of their children. It is from you that they first learn about their faith. Parent involvement is crucial in the growth and enrichment of your child’s faith.
We ask that parents please make a sincere commitment to:
Attend Parent Workshops.
Attend Sunday Mass regularly and on Holy Days of Obligation.
Participate in Religious Education Classes.
Help reinforce your child’s lessons and practice the prayers at home.
Live and incorporate the Catholic teachings into your day to day life.
Thank you for your dedication to your child as they are growing and learning their faith with you.
