A little about VBS At RLC
At Richland Lutheran Church, we love Vacation Bible School! It's a highlight of the year for our congregation, and countless members come together to provide this God-honoring, Spirit-filled, Jesus-centered ministry to the children of the congregation and our community.
But 2020 has derailed even the most prayerful of plans. RLC takes the health and well-being of our community seriously. RLC isn't just another "business down the block." We are your neighbors, your friends, your "church family." And we want to do our part to heal our community, state, nation and the world from the pandemic that has taken grip. So we're staying home, washing our hands, wearing masks when needed, and most of all not gathering in large groups where there's lots of interpersonal contact...like with VBS.
Are we sad about not meeting in person for VBS in 2020? You bet we are. There have been tearful prayers pleading for some way to make it happen, and frustrated conversations as each day has passed bringing us closer and closer to the need for a final decision. But in the end, it is not about "us" and how much we love VBS. It's about honoring God in this season, and there are ways to do that that don't include a gathering of couple hundred people every evening for a week.
We thank you in advance for understanding, and hope your family will be blessed by the "Slow & Grow Rocky Railway" packets we will have available on Sunday, July 12. We are looking forward to VBS 2021 - June 21-25!
