VBS is staffed with volunteers! About 65 volunteers are needed to make VBS a safe and fun experience. All volunteers must complete our Safe Sanctuary process which requires a background check for those 18 and older, reference checks for all volunteers, and more. Volunteers also must attend one training session. Training for VBS 2025 is July 8 6:00 (youth training), 7:00 (adult training) & July 14 9:00 (youth training), 10:00 (adult training). If you would like to volunteer to coach please let Erica know. Volunteers register their children beginning mid-February.
Each group of 10-20 will have a crew coach to guide them throughout the VBS week. The crew coach's main job is to build relationships with kids, get them to their activities, lead a short scripted daily devotional, and support the head coaches when needed. Crew coaches do not need prior knowledge of a sport or track.
Head coaches are the experts in the activity they lead. There are 3 30-minute activity sessions throughout VBS. Lesson plans and materials are provided. Head coaches meet one-on-one with Erica in advance to plan.
Assistant coaches support crew and head coaches.
We also have volunteers staff our First Aid Room. This is a position for an adult with at least first aid training, including epi-pen training.
