What do kids do at Awana?
The club meeting is divided up
into three parts: Game Time, Handbook Time and Bible Study.
*Game Time - The clubbers have fun while learning to be a part of a team. The games are designed to allow each child to participate and encourage team spirit.
*Handbook Time – Each clubber will have a handbook to work in. Clubbers are encouraged to complete one handbook each year. Leaders work in small groups with the clubbers to listen to them recite the sections they have prepared.
*Bible Study – The time when clubbers come together to learn a Biblical lesson. Clubbers regularly hear the gospel message, apply truths of scripture to daily life, and gain tools for Biblical living.
AWANA Bucks
Each week, clubbers have the opportunity to earn 5 AWANA bucks. They are awarded 1 BUCK for each of the following:
*Attendance
*Bringing their Handbook (if they have one)
*Bringing their Bible (let us know if they need one)
*Wearing their Uniform
*Participating in the theme for the week
At the end of each semester they use their bucks to shop at our AWANA store. The store is stocked with cool prizes they will love to take home!
Covid-19 Response
Due to Covid-19, we are trying to limit interaction between kids without taking away from the fun and learning experience of AWANA. Here is how we are planning to do that:
1. Limited Time
We will meet from 6:30pm – 7:30pm each Wednesday night.
2. Limited Interactions
Children will not meet together for an opening ceremony. Instead, they will have the opening ceremony in their individual rooms and remain there for the duration of the evening.
3. Eliminating Snack Time
To cut down on the amount of things being touched, we are eliminating snack time for this year. Children are welcome to bring a water bottle from home (with a lid & water only) to use while they are in class.
4. Modifying Game Time
In years past, children would rotate in and out of the game room for game time. This year, they will remain in their rooms where they can play socially distanced games or complete art/craft projects as decided by their teachers.
Please follow the illness standards set forth by the church. We ask that you do not bring clubbers who have colds/illnesses to share. Please make sure clubbers are fever and diarrhea free for 24 hours prior to coming. We also expect our clubbers to follow the behavior rules set by the church.
