July 23, 2018 — July 27, 2018
05:45 pm — 08:15 pm (CDT)
Shipwrecked is for kids ages 3 years old (that are potty trained) to those that are starting 6th grade.
Venture onto an uncharted island where kids survive and thrive. Anchor kids in the truth that Jesus carries them through life’s storms.
At Shipwrecked, kids discover that Jesus Rescues! Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make crafts, devour yummy treats, experience one-of-a-kind Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of God’s love, and test out “Sciency”-Fun Gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with the Sail Away Sendoff that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Family members and friends are encouraged to join on Friday 7:45pm – 8:15pm.
One of the ways Jesus rescues is by helping others. This year, our VBS offerings will go toward helping to provide kids in our community with healthy lunches and snacks as a part of “Filling the Gap.” We will attempt to “Fill the Crate” with healthy snacks to go with the lunches offered through this great ministry. Lists of suggested snacks will be sent home with students the first night.
We will once again offer a kid friendly meal, beginning at 5:00pm. Please note: children coming before 5:45 need to be accompanied by an adult as we will not have enough staff on hand to be able to adequately supervise children before 5:45pm.
Reformation has a Facebook page for VBS (Reformation Lutheran Church, ELCA – VBS). If you have a Facebook account, please come join us and be our friend. You will be able to see what we are planning this year, check out the decorations, find items that we need donated, and volunteer to help. It will also be a place that if you have an idea or something that you want to share with the VBS staff, you can get in touch with us.
A $5 per child (max $20 per family) fee is due prior to or on the first night of VBS.
There are many opportunities for volunteering for VBS. Watch your bulletin in May for the VBS volunteering sheet. You can complete this form and place it in the offering plates. If you would like to help with donations, please see the donation boards for those items.
Contact Tina Alstrom with general VBS questions or to volunteer (316-650-4126).
VBS Decorating Party!
Last but not least, if you have any interest in helping with decorations, we are having a VBS decorating party on Sunday, June 10, beginning at 9:30 a.m. (following Rise worship). All skill levels are welcome, as we will be doing everything from creating tissue paper flowers to cutting out leaves. Looking to make some donations? We could use canvas drop cloths and umbrellas (broken or not – and can be returned after VBS). See Meegan Jowdy for more information about decorating at 770-876-7254.
