What will
kids experience at VBS?
We start each morning together in the Worship Center to sing and hear
about what’s ahead for the day. This
happens through high energy worship and some live stage action. Then we break up into small groups (Crews -
which are broken down by grade) and start our tour of fabulous stations: Bible Exploration, Missions, Games, Snacks,
and KidVid Cinema. We end each day back
in the Worship Center for our closing with more worship and a wrap-up. Crew Leaders will stay with the same group of
4-8 kids each day.
When does
registration close?
Online VBS registration for kids closes June 14 at 9:00pm. Register before then to be entered into a
drawing for FREE stuff! However, preschool
and elementary kids (grades K-5) who miss that cut-off can still come to the
check-in tables on Monday morning and be added to a group. We may even take
some last minute volunteers this way. Anyone NOT registered to volunteer before
Sunday, may go to the VBS Information table on Monday morning to see if any
positions are available.
How much does it
cost?
Many VBS programs charge up to $25-75 per child. One distinction with NLCC VBS is that it has
always been free because of generous donations from our church family. Yes, you
read that correctly: VBS at NLCC is FREE!!
What should my child
wear?
Please have your child wear comfortable clothes and sensible shoes each day
to VBS (flip-flops, jelly-type sandals are NOT recommended.
Where do I drop off
my child each day?
Monday morning- Preschool and Elementary kids (entering grades K – 5 in the
fall) should go to the check-in table designated for their grade. These tables
are inside the main doors in the foyer clearly marked with the grade level. From there, they can go into the worship area
to meet their crew leader. Children will receive a name tag each morning.
Tuesday-Friday (children already registered) will need to be dropped off at
their crew stake outside in the front of the main doors. Preschoolers need to be taken to their
classroom.
Leaders will meet kids at their crew stake (unless it is raining, then come
inside) and sit as a Crew. Kids and
leaders will wear name tags with the Crew number on it and will have a seating
area in the Worship Center designated for their crew.
Where do I pick up my
child each day?
Kindergarten-5th grade attendees will be in the worship center
with their crews for pick up. ONLY those
who are on the pick up list will be allowed to pick up child (unless other
arrangements have been made with a VBS director).
Preschoolers must be picked up and signed out of the classroom that they are dropped off.
Children not picked up by 12:10 will be brought to the VBS Information table in the café area.
What if I need to
pick my child up early?
Early dismissals are discouraged. However, if your child needs to leave VBS
early, you must come to VBS Headquarters before 12:00pm. For the safety of all
our children, they are not permitted to leave their group on their own. A VBS
staff member will get the child from their group’s location and bring them to
VBS Headquarters for you to sign them out.
Please call or let us know ahead of time. 574-261-5319
Why do we teach the
kids about missions at VBS? And why is
my child asking for money?
We teach kids about expanding their knowledge of God’s Family and their
family in Christ who are all over the world. We are helping connect them with
people of all countries and encourage them to serve in their community and
throughout the world. They are
challenged throughout the week to give financially to a mission from around the
world. All money that is given goes straight to the mission.
What if my child has
an injury or medical issue?
Occasionally, children get injured or sick while at VBS. We have nurses on our VBS staff in case of emergencies
as well as a First Aid kit for minor things. Please make sure we have a cell phone and
emergency number on file should we need to reach you.
As a parent, can I
watch the closing program from 11:35-12?
Parents are invited to join us for both the opening and closing programs in
the Worship Center. However, you will not be able to sit with your child. Feel
free to stand in the back.
Can my child be in a
group with their friends?
Yes! We will do our best to accommodate your request only DURING pre-registration
. Registering EARLY helps us make this possible. Please indicate the name of
the child with whom you would like your child placed during online
registration. Groups are grade specific
so it may not be possible. We cannot
guarantee anything, especially registration during the week of VBS.
How do I register?
Registration is available only online for children at www.nlccnet.org until June 14. From there, you will need to register Monday
morning at the VBS registration tables.
How do I know if I
did online registration correctly?
Once you’ve successfully completed registration, you will immediately
receive a confirmation email. Your correct email must be entered in the
registration form so please use caution to enter that correctly. Check your
SPAM and Junk Mail folders if you don’t find it right away. If you don’t receive the confirmation email,
you did not complete the process and will need to try again.
What if I need to
change my information on a registration that I already submitted?
Please contact us at katy.fleck@nlccnet.org to update information or
request a change.
Can I complete a kid
registration form if I am not the child’s parent or legal guardian?
No, only a parent or legal guardian may complete the form because we
require the parent’s e-signature on the medical and photo release.
What if my child wants
to change groups during VBS?
Crew leaders are not authorized to move children to a different group. Any
group changes must be approved by VBS Registration.
My child loves the
VBS music! How can I get a copy of it?
We will have CDs available for $7 during the week of VBS and online
beforehand. You can write checks to NLCC
and we accept debit cards. CDs are
limited.
I’m sure VBS is very
expensive. Is there any way to donate
financially?
Yes! You can give cash or write a
check to NLCC or donate online through the donation link.
