Vacation Bible Blast Service Areas

There are various positions available for Vacation Bible Blast... see the list below to determine what your first and second choice for volunteer positions would be.

We will make every effort to ensure that you get your first choice; however, in the event that we have enough of a certain volunteer position OR we feel that you would be a better fit for another area, we may ask you to switch or assign you to your second choice.   Please know that we will ensure you are in a position you are comfortable with.

Please note, all leaders must be 18 years of age or older, unless specific permission is given by Bethany.  Those under 18 are welcome and encouraged to serve as station assistants and crew leader assistants.

Each station has a Preschool Leader and an Elementary leader, as well as Preschool Assistants and Elementary Assistants.  Please be sure to sign up under the appropriate Session for the age group you desire to work with

1.     Crafts Leader                                   

This person will oversee the Craft station by reading the manual and preparing for each day’s craft.  The leader will become familiar with the materials and supplies and share with kids how the crafts tie into the day's power launcher and message of God’s love.  They will inspire and encourage kids. This station leader will ensure set-up of their station and will be prepared to teach and oversee all aspects of the station.

2.     Crafts Assistant                              

As a station assistant, you will help the station leader by assisting with set-up of the space, helping prepare the lesson and helping kids with activities, as well as answering questions, and assisting crew leaders in keeping kids focused and attentive on the activity. 

3.     Science Station Leader                                         

This person will oversee the Science station by reading the manual and preparing for each day’s lesson.  The leader will become familiar with the materials and supplies, as well as scheduling time to try out all experiments prior to VBB. They will inspire and encourage kids in the day's power launcher.  This station leader will ensure set-up of their station and will be prepared to teach and oversee all aspects of the station.

4.     Science Station Assistant              

As a station assistant, you will help the station leader by assisting with set-up of the space, helping prepare the lesson and helping kids with activities, as well as answering questions, and assisting crew leaders in keeping kids focused and attentive to the leader. 

5.     Bible Story Leader

This person will oversee the Bible Story station by reading the manual and preparing for each day’s Bible Lesson.  The leader will become familiar with the materials and supplies and transport kids back to Bible times.  The leader will teach kids bible stories through interactive learning activities that make the Bible stories come alive.  They will inspire and encourage kids.  This station leader will ensure set-up of their station and will be prepared to teach and oversee all aspects of the station.                        

6.     Bible Story Assistant

As a station assistant, you will help the station leader by assisting with set-up of the space, helping prepare the lesson and helping kids with activities, as well as answering questions, and assisting crew leaders in keeping kids focused and attentive on the leader.   This person will also assist the leader with sound effects, acting, and teaching.

7.     Games Leader

This person will oversee the Games station by reading the manual and preparing for each day’s games.  The leader will become familiar with the materials and supplies and share with kids how the game ties into our power launcher of the day.  They will inspire and encourage kids.  This station leader will ensure set-up of their station and will be prepared to teach and oversee all aspects of the station.

8.     Games Assistant

As a station assistant, you will help the station leader by assisting with set-up of the space, helping prepare the games, helping kids with activities, as well as answering questions, and assisting crew leaders in keeping kids focused and attentive on the leader. 

9.     Pre-VBB Meal Assistant

This person will assist in the preparation of a meal for all VBB participants, their families, and volunteers.  They will help cook and serve food.

10.                        Crew Leader  (Must be 18 or older)

The role of a crew leader is to oversee a group of children and lead them in all aspects of VBB.  They are to be an example to the kids of the fun and excitement of VBB through participation in song and motions, games, and other activities.  The Crew leader is responsible for getting their kids through each of the stations and being in the right place at the right time.  Crew leaders should be prepared to carry necessary supplies, trouble shoot as needed, and involve additional help if needed.  Crew leaders build relationships with their kids and help them stay engaged, focused, and attentive throughout stations.

11.                        Assistant Crew Leader

The role of an assistant crew leader is to help oversee a group of children and help lead them in all aspects of VBB.  They are to be an example to the kids of the fun and excitement of VBB through participation in song and motions, games, and other activities.  The assistant crew leader is responsible for getting their kids through each of the stations and being in the right place at the right time.  Assistant crew leaders build relationships with their kids and help them stay engaged, focused, and attentive throughout stations.

12.                        Photographer

This person will ensure that we have quality photos and videos of kids and volunteers each night in all of the stations and celebration areas.  This person also will be responsible for taking group photos and ensuring they are printed and back to the Directors at a designated time.  They will also assist in selecting the best photos to incorporate into a presentation and may be asked to assist in making a photo presentation for the final night.

13.                        Decorations Leader (all decorations- register under elementary)

This person will be responsible for working in conjunction with the VBB Director to determine what decorations to use and what areas to decorate.  The leader will then determine what is needed and how to get necessary decorations prepared.  This person will oversee the decorating process on Saturday, July 20th and will work with a team to ensure all decorations are up and ready for VBB.

14.                                  Decorations Assistant (all decorations- register under elementary)

These people will help make decoration and put up decorations with oversight from the Decorations Leader.

15.                                  Registration Leader (all registrations- register under elementary)

This person will oversee all online registration of elementary and preschool participants.  This person will recruit volunteers to assist with registering and taking attendance on a daily basis via computer.  Registration person will regularly check in with attendance numbers and keep directors fully informed of crew formation and registrants.

16.                                Registration Assistant (all registrations- register under elementary)

These people will work one or multiple days in the registration area checking in and registering participants and placing them in crews in accordance with this year’s VBB policies and stipulations.

17.                                 Publicity Coordinator (all publicity- register under elementary)

This person will oversee the promotion of this year’s VBB primarily outside of the church, but also assisting in church announcements, posters, and Facebook postings, as well.

18.                         Music & Opening Celebration Coordinator (register under elementary)

This person will be responsible for overseeing the opening program.  This person will learn and lead motions and songs for participants at all opening and closing programs.  This person will help teach each day’s power launcher, as well as make any necessary announcements during opening celebration.  This person will get kids excited and interested in the songs and motions with enthusiasm and energy.  Must be willing to be silly and dress up.

19.                        Tech Coordinator ( for opening and closing- register under elementary)

This person will assist in the coordination of tech set up and running of the tech equipment including sound and videos.  They will put together a presentation of the items for each opening and closing celebration and will ensure that all parts of the program will operate.  Should be someone with the ability to troubleshoot if problems arise.

20.                            Supplies Coordinator (register under elementary) 

This person will assist in procurement of all necessary supplies for stations, opening and closing, as well as additional supplies needed for other miscellaneous things.  This person will be responsible for organization of such supplies and making sure each leader has the appropriate supplies for their station.  This person will be responsible for trouble shooting supply problems, as well as getting supplies ready for each day.         This person will begin organizing and inventorying supplies at the beginning of JUNE with the assistance of the VBB Director.     

21.                        Missions Coordinator (register under elementary)                        

This person will be responsible for the implementation of our mission project, including collection and counting of money and/or collection and counting of supplies.  This person will also be responsible for making sure all information is communicated to participants and volunteers and will be responsible for making sure all mission monies and/or supplies are donated at the conclusion of VBB.

22.                          Hospitality Coordinator (register under elementary)

This person will be responsible for overseeing all Hospitality volunteers including meal and door greeters.  This person will ensure that those who enter our doors for VBB have a welcoming and warm experience and that if problems arise they are handled in the most professional and polite manner.  This person will ensure that there enough volunteers present and available during the staff meeting to handle all meal time needs and issues.

23.                        Hospitality Volunteer (register under elementary)

This person will assist families with the meal time, ensure that they feel welcome and help with any problems or concerns.  This person will help oversee the meal time process.
