We will have several missional opportunities and offering focuses this summer. Our first one will be to collect non-perishable food items for a local food pantry here in Milwaukee. Great items to bring in will be peanut butter, jelly, rice, pasta, pasta sauce, mac and cheese, canned fruits, and vegetables.
Our goal is to raise $700 to help over 135 people have access to clean water for more than a year. Most of us take for granted that we have access to clean water for drinking, cooking, cleaning and playing in. In Honduras:
* 1 in 9 people in Honduras don't have access to clean water sources.
*Lack of access to clean water sources causes many women and girls to walk long distances to get to the well. There are other important ways they could be spending their time.
*Many people in the rural communities get their drinking water from rivers that are used for bathing (people and animals). This can lead to diseases and malnutrition.
A $5 dollar donation can help provide access to clean water sources for one person for more than a year.
Our goal is to raise $700. If everyone brings in at least $3 we will meet our goal.
The last focus is to help our middle school and high schoolers serve. Our middle school and high school youth will be serving at Soles for Jesus this summer. We will be collecting shoes to take with us to the warehouse. Shoes of all kinds and sizes are needed. These shoes get packed and given to people of all ages in Africa. Look for a box in the entry way to deposit your shoes.
