Family Faith Formation

(formerly known as Family Study Workshop)

"God always knocks at the door of hearts. He likes to do this. It comes from His heart. But, do you know what He likes best? To knock on the doors of families and find families that are united, to find families that love each other, to find the families that bring up their children and educate them and help them to keep going forward and that create a society of goodness, of truth, and of beauty."

~Pope Francis, September 29, 2015

The Family Faith Formation will be more of an at-home program this year for 1st-8th grade students. The name change from "Family Study Workshop" to "Family Faith Formation" is to emphasize the importance of the family forming their faith within the household as well as within the church.

Who: Children grades 1st through 8th grade.

When: There will no longer be monthly meetups for grades 1-5 but grades 6-8 will continue to meet monthly with the EDGE program. There will only be 3 required meetups with families of children in grades 1-5 during the school year. Grades 6-8 monthly meetups will coincide with these meetups.

Where: The 3 required meetups with families of children grades 1-5 will take place on the Immaculate Conception School campus. The remainder of the program will take place at home. Grades 6-8 will meet in the Brown House.

Why the change? When looking at this program, we wanted to create an environment for families to dive into a deeper relationship with God and, at the same time, a deeper understanding of the Catholic church. What better place to start than in the family home? Parents will have a wonderful opportunity to explore the practices of the Catholic faith with their children at their own pace. We hope that this new approach will encourage the parents and the children to discover the beauty of the Catholic church and to come together as a parish community for events, Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation.

How can this be done at home? Parents and students will be provided with Christ Our Life (published by Loyola Press), Family Life (published by RCL Benziger) textbooks and other religious resources and support from catechists and parish staff. Along with the 3 required meetups the children (with assistance from the parents) must complete chapter reviews and submit them online by the due dates.

Last Day to Register is September 23, 2019
