The First United Methodist Church of LaGrange is teaming up with Compass Creative Dramatics to bring a NEW exclusive week-long theatre camp experience to rising 2nd through 8th graders meant to bridge us back to in-person work together!
Local LaGrange educators will be taking the lead this year as Compass educators support and cheer us on from a distance in Chicago! Students will stretch their creativity and bravery muscles as they rehearse and perform a showcase of selected scenes and songs from Compass Creative Dramatics' adaptation of The Jungle Book. LaGrange community educators will lead students daily through rehearsals and activities preparing students for their end-of-week showcase. Join Mowgli, Baloo, Akela, and all of the jungle creatures as they race for survival against Shere Khan and his band of jackals!
The theater camp will run from July 12th to July 16th, 9 – 11 am, with a showcase performance scheduled for July 16th at 7 pm. All rehearsals and the performance will be at the First United Methodist Church of La Grange.
Registration is limited and we will continue to follow CDC, Northern Illinois Conference ReTurn Guidelines and IDPH COVID-19 protocols to have a safe week.
Please note, this program will not culminate in a full production of The Jungle Book. Instead, this program gives students a chance to explore the script and theatre artistry in a unique and collaborative process that still allows students’ work to be showcased following the week-long program and is designed to give them a special experience beyond the standard week-long performance residency with Compass Creative Dramatics.
