Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene Invites Children to Shipwrecked VBS: Rescued by Jesus.

Leavenworth, Washington A summer kids’ event called Shipwrecked Vacation Bible School will be hosted at Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene from Monday, July 16, to Friday, July 20. At Shipwrecked, kids discover that Jesus rescues them! Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, eat a yummy lunch, experience one-of-a-kind Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of God’s love, and test out Sciency-Fun Gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with the Sail Away Sendoff that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for this special time at 1:00 pm each day.

Shipwrecked is for kids from 4 years old to entering 6th grade and will run from 10:30am to 1:30pm each day. For more information, please call (509) 548-5292. Participants can be registered online at www.LCN.org. Paper registration forms are available at the church. Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene is located at 111 Ski Hill Drive in Leavenworth, Washington. This event is provided by the church for the community, and there is no charge to attend.

Kids at Shipwrecked VBS will be part of a missions effort to provide seeds for families in Minembwe in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to grow food. This is the same community the church worked with last year to provide a floor, ceiling and beds for an orphanage. We will be working to provide quality bulk seeds to improve the diet of the kids and families in Minembwe. The diet currently includes potatoes, beans, cabbage, and corn flour. We hope to introduce carrots, tomatoes, eggplant, onions, squash, and zucchini, with a goal of reducing swollen bellies and serious intestinal issues. Most of the children only have 1-2 meals per day. This causes issues with lack of energy and difficulty staying awake in the classroom. By providing seed, and the people there saving seed each growing season to plant the next year, we can have a long-term impact on nutrition for families in the area. What a wonderful way to continue to show God’s love to the people in this war-torn area!
