Summer Music Camp 2025 will feature "Doc Roc and the Amazing Canon", a musical about the formation of the Bible and its identity as God’s word. The "Amazing Canon" is a reference to the biblical canon, which are the books that make up the Bible. The cannon in the musical logo is a reference to power of God's word to proclaim the truth about God (notice the spelling difference between 'canon' and 'cannon'- not a typo!) The musical uses fun songs, insightful illustrations, and witty dialogue to teach these important concepts.
St. Luke's Summer Music Camp is a great place for budding performers to develop performing skills and it is a safe and encouraging environment that grows their faith. Many campers have continued to pursue performing in school and community events.
We take care to support each performer in their respective duties: soloists receive vocal coaching; actors are coached on general principles of theater and drama; scripture readers are coached on their delivery and pronunciation (some Bible words are tricky!).
Every day, we have a guest musician who demonstrates and discusses an instrument. Campers are given time to ask questions directly to the guest musician.
With respect to spiritual growth, there will be two devotionals every day. Devotional 1 is for all campers and unpacks our theme verse. Devotional 2 is for grades 5-8.
During the week, campers will be in two main locations, fellowship hall and the sanctuary. Occasionally, campers will be taken aside in small groups for vocal coaching, scripture coaching, and staging.
