Sunday School is one of the core steps in a child's faith development. It is a place where they encounter many of the Bible stories and teachings for the first time. It is a time when they are welcomed into a community of children and adults working together to learn how to live in God's world. It is a place where they discover that the Bible is a complex and fascinating book, yet also learn the simple and powerful message that Jesus loves them. For these reasons, and many more, we hope that all children of ELC will choose to attend the weekly Sunday School classes so they may explore the works of God with their friends, and receive the wisdom of their teachers as they embark on the great journey of faith together!
At ELC, we use the curriculum called "Living the Word" by Spirit and Truth Publications. This curriculum provides a Lutheran take on the Narrative Lectionary readings from each Sunday that at once engages kids with creative activities and challenges children to think more deeply about the teachings and actions of Christ. We split our classes up by grade, and each grade is taught by two teachers who have been well-trained to lead their class. Our Sunday School superintendent is Bergen Nelson, who oversees the program and handles the matters of communication, so please contact him (bergenanders92@gmail.com) if you have any questions!
We hope that your child will join us for a fantastic year of Sunday School!
