Reaching Out To Help Others
Each year, the participants of VBS are given the opportunity to reach beyond themselves and support the needs of others.
We are blessed to spend an amazing, uplifting week together. However, many children do not have this luxury. At Christ Lutheran Church, during Maker Factory VBS, we learn we are built for purpose. We want to help others support their purpose as well!
Again this year, we will be supporting “Nicks Kids” at the Treehouse Orphanage in the Mathare Slum in Nairobi, Kenya. This Community Transformers program has been recognized as one of the best youth-led community organization in the Nairobi area. Nicholas leads an amazing group of staff and volunteers, and together they have been able to provide home-based care for 400 individuals living with HIV/AIDS, run weekly HIV/AIDS support groups which benefit 105 people, and care for 36 orphans living at the Treehouse Orphanage. In addition, they have rescued 250 children living on the streets and helped to reunite them with family members or referred them to other children’s homes.
Donations are accepted at VBS each day. The kids get very excited as we tally our contributions and come closer to reaching our goal. You may encourage the kids (but don’t push or use guilt) to bring a small contribution each day to VBS.
