This week our camp meeting kids will be learning about WORSHIP! We are hardwired for worship! It is true; we worship all the time. The question is what do we worship? To understand worship more clearly, we should understand what is worship and what is not worship. When we praise God out of the overflow of our hearts, that is called worship. The Hebrew language uses different words to describe different aspects of worship. For example, the word for praising God in worship is yadah (yah-dah). David worshipped God with yadah. He was a world-class worshipper, and he is known as “a man after God’s own heart.” When we look at the rhythm of David's life, we can see the patterns that developed even when he was young. These rhythms, these patterns, are the heartbeat of worship. Sometimes David’s worship was reflected in his posture, such as bowing in reverent awe. Sometimes David would dance and worship God with shouts of praise. Everything we do flows from our hearts (Proverbs 4:23). Our attitudes and actions overflow from what is within us (Matthew 6:21; 12:34). The Heartbeat series explores what it means to worship God in a deeper and more personal way.
