What should my child wear and bring to VBS? First and foremost, comfortable clothing and shoes. We will be playing games outside (weather permitting) and doing crafts, so it is best to wear something that you are okay with getting dirty. As far as what they should bring, just themselves! If your child would like to bring their own water bottle, we ask that you make sure it is labeled with their name.
What time does VBS start and end? Our VBS program will start promptly at 9:00 AM every morning, so please be sure to have your child here on time, and allow yourself time to finalize their registration on Monday. Our doors will be open at 8:50 AM every morning for your children to come into the church. VBS officially ends at 11:30 AM, and we ask that you are there ready to pick up your child from their teacher at that time. Our volunteers are graciously donating their time, so we want to make sure we are respectful of it.
My child has an allergy or a special need that you should be aware of, who do I tell? If you did not include your child's allergy or needs on the registration form (either paper or electronic), please make sure our volunteers helping with registration are made aware. Please also send me an email so I can make sure our master list is updated and all volunteers handling any allergens are made aware as well. We take the health and safety of your children very seriously. If your child has a very restrictive diet, please consider sending snacks with them you know they will eat. We will have gluten and dairy free options, but parents know best what their child likes!
What can our children expect at VBS? Our Rainforest Falls VBS helps kids plunge into a lifelong adventure of discovering the nature of God. They’ll explore what it means to be rooted in relationship with God, their creator, a safe place in life’s storms.
Can I stay with my child? After picking up your child's name tag at the registration desk the first morning, we ask that you take your child into the Worship Center and find the pew that matches their color and wild animal (for example the Green Frogs). Their Crew leader and any helpers will be there waiting to greet them. Parents are welcome to stay for a bit while we are singing in the Worship Center but will need to sit in the last few open pews at the back or along the outside pews. Your child will be back in the Worship Center at 11:10 AM for another singing session to end the day, and you are again welcome to come and watch from the designated pews.
Will my child be partnered with their friends? We do our best to meet any crew grouping requests that are made, but please note all crews are built based on the child's age so if their friend is a different age, they may not be paired together.
Are you collecting donations again this year? Yes, we are collecting monetary donations again this year, however they are not required. If you would like to help raise money during VBS, simply send any donations with your child each day (please put any loose coins in a plastic bag or envelope). We will have a donation chart up in the front of the Worship Center to help show our children how much we are able to raise. Each year we choose a nonprofit to partner with that helps support children in need around the world.
Does Brookside hold VBS every year? We do! We have already begun planning for VBS 2027, and will give a sneak peek of what we have in store for our children on the last day of VBS this year.
Keep an eye out for more information about the final VBS program on Friday, June 26th.
