How should my child dress each day?

Wear play clothes that you won't mind getting dirty or wet.  Some of our games involve water, and other stations may use paint, markers, etc.

When does my child wear his/her t-shirt?

The only day that we request the kids wear their shirts is on Friday since we do a closing program that parents are invited to attend.  Other than that, they can wear it as often as they would like.

How do you handle allergies, particularly food allergies?

Group does a really good job of making their snacks as allergy free as possible.  We ask our volunteers, who have a separate snack area, not to bring in items containing nuts.  We also make sure that crew leaders and our snack area volunteers have a list of those children with allergies.  In the case of severe allergies (peanuts or other nuts), we try to provide the parents with a copy of the snacks prior to VBS so they can determine if they need to send in a snack from home on certain days.  Anyone with questions should feel free to contact the church office.

Is there a mission project this year?

We are going to do 3 mission projects this year.

One is called "Wands for Wildlife" which is just a fun theme tie-in and costs $0! We are collecting used mascara wands (please wash in soapy water) that we will send to an animal rescue center in NC. They use the wands to clean hurt and orphaned animals because the bristles are soft and close together.

Second, we will collect school supplies for the Florida United Methodist Children's Home.  The Children's Home is located outside of Orlando and provides a safe loving environment for children who have been removed from their homes by abuse, court-order, death in the family, etc.

Third, we will make "Birthday Bags" for the Green Cove Springs Food Pantry. We love this idea as just a little extra something to do locally!  We will collect cake mix, icing, candles, balloons, streamers and gift bags (other items could be tablecloths, cup cake papers, etc). During one of our stations on Thursday or Friday, the kids will help put the bags together. When someone comes into the food pantry for assistance, they will be provided with one of the bags if someone in their family has an upcoming birthday!
