Just Like Me! is a five-day inclusive Vacation Bible School that centers the deep and active faith expressions of children while honoring the unique and diverse communities that they live in. Just Like Me! VBS is open to children who are or will be 3 years old and potty trained, through 5th grade. Please contact the VBS Director at katieletts22@outlook.com if you have any questions.
Children will be encouraged to express themselves through our community garden setting, getting to have hands-on engagement with God's creation while learning Bible stories that encourage them to use their unique voices to "shout about" the things that matter most to them.
Each day, children will participate in hearing a Bible story and then going to stations where they create, play, and sing in order to engage their whole mind, body, and spirit with the theme and lesson of the day.
Children will also receive a snack each day that is connected to the day's theme. More information about snacks, including allergen warnings, will be released closer to the start of VBS.
For grown-ups that may want a sneak peek, here is the overview for all five days, including our theme, scripture, and lesson for the day.
Day 1: "I Wonder." Children will hear the story of John 20: 24-29, where Jesus appears to the questioning disciple, Thomas. Today, they will practice asking questions.
Day 2: "I have something to shout about." Children will hear the story of Mark 10:46-52, when Bartimaeus received his sight. Today, they will practice speaking up.
Day 3: "I have something to share." Children will hear the story of John 6:1-15, when Jesus feeds the 5,000. Today, they will practice giving to others.
Day 4: "I need my people." Children will hear the story of 2 kings 4:1-7, where Elisha helps a widowed woman pay her husband's debts. Today, they will practice finding and building community.
Day 5: "I have something to say." Children will hear the story of 2 Kings 5:1-14, where Naaman is healed of his leprosy. Today, they will practice using their prophetic voice.
