DFUMC VBS - June 18 - 22

9:00AM-12:15PM DAILY

AFTERCARE AVAILABLE UNTIL 5:30 FOR ADDITIONAL COST

COST: $30 per child / $100 family max (includes a VBS Tshirt)*

AGES: Rising Pre-K - Rising 6th Grade {Pre-K kids must turn age 4 before September 1, 2018}

RISING 5th & 6th GRADERS participate in daily off-site mission projects. This group (known as the “56ers”) attends the VBS morning assembly, then departs on the church van and bus with seasoned VBS volunteers and DFUMC staff to serve in the community for the morning. They return to the church in time for closing assembly. Past work sites have included: Decatur Emergency Assistance Ministry (D.E.A.M. at 515 E. Ponce de Leon Avenue) or Global Growers in Stone Mountain. Once the 2018 work-sites are finalized, parents will need to complete additional waivers.

AFTERCARE: Available until 5:30pm daily for an additional cost. Our aftercare options include:

The Science of Fun (hands-on science experiments and S.T.E.M. fun) for children Rising 1st - 4th Grades ONLY led by Clairmont Elementary Teacher Lisa Spoeth. COST: $175 (includes art and lab materials)*.

Kids Go Wild (natural arts camp with Christy Foelsch) for kids of all ages. COST: $150*. Please NOTE:  with Kids Go Wild, there is a gap in time from when VBS ends (12:15 pm) and when Kids Go Wild begins (1:15 pm).  VBS childcare staff and volunteers will ensure that your child is transferred from one program to the next.  This one hour "transition time" will be supervised by DFUMC childcare staff and will include time for the children to eat lunch and have some free time on the playground before they are ushered to Ms. Christy and the Kids Go Wild program (located in the same building as VBS).

WHAT CHILDREN DO at VBS:  Children are assigned to small groups of about 10 kids who are led through 4 different rotation areas by 2 adults and one youth volunteer to create a high adult to child ratio.  They participate in crafts, music, recreation, storytelling and snack time which all underscore the Bible stories of the week.  Children are encouraged to support a mission project for the week through a daily offering of coins!

SUNDAY CELEBRATION! After all the VBS fun, families are invited to join us on Sunday, June 24 for a special VBS worship service and a celebration breakfast (catered by Waffle House)!!

*some scholarships available!
