Welcome to the SUMC Learning Support Center! To support students and their families as they try to cope with the demands of remote learning during the pandemic, we have created a new program to provide a nurturing, safe, internet-equipped learning environment for children in K-8th grades.
Students may elect to come for a full 5 days per week or fewer days, for a program that runs 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. They will study in groups of no more than 6 students with desks appropriately distanced. There will be time, internet support, and guidance to help students complete assignments from their regular school and to be online as needed for real-time learning. The Center will schedule time for recreation, lunch, and 2 snacks each day (all food is to be brought from home). In addition there will be opportunities for students to be creative, develop skills in art and music, watch educational videos, and develop new friendships.
Our caring staff and volunteers will assist students in responsibly protecting each other from possible COVID infections by wearing masks when inside, washing and sanitizing hands well, and disinfecting surfaces regularly.
To have a talented teaching staff, tuition support is needed. The rate is $25 for each day enrolled. Tuition support may be available for families whose children would otherwise not be able to participate.
It is our hope that your children will find a warm supportive place to learn and grow despite the challenges of this difficult time.
