We loved the regular VBS, why did you change it?

So did we!  Wasn't it fun to have 300 kids and 150 volunteers in one place, praising God! Several years ago, our church leadership encouraged our members to share Jesus outside of the walls of our church.  We decided that this year was a great year to take VBS to where the kids are.  We are excited to have church families who are willing to open their outside safe spaces to our VBS kids.

So what is happening?

We're so glad you asked!  We're having our volunteer teams run VBS at the homes of some of our church families.  We believe this will provide for a safe and fun environment while our team gets to know your child.

If VBS is at someone's home, how will I know where to take my child?

During the week of July 26th, parents will receive an email providing the address of the host home to which your child will report.

How many kids will be at each host site?

It depends on the host homes safe space.  We are estimating each site will have about 20 young astronauts.

I have more than one child, will they all be at the same host site?

Yes!  We do not want your morning to be filled with running to various neighborhoods.

So if VBS is outside at someone's home, what happens if it rains?

Great question!  We have contingency plans with each of our host sites.  Most of these include either under tents or in a garage. We will make this clear when we send our email regarding where your child will go.  If it is a severe thunderstorm, we may have to delay or cancel the VBS for that day.  But we are trusting that it will be a beautiful week!

Will covid-19 restrictions be in place?

We want our children to be safe.  This is one reason why we have chosen to do  outside VBS.  It is our understanding that kids are safer when they are outside.  At the time of this writing, the CDC guidelines for camps state that masks can be optional for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.  We are planning to follow that guideline.  Should anything change between now and then, we will notify families via email.
