HOLY TRINITY VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS:

After deciding which of the following positions you'd like to volunteer for, please register!

Teens (entering grade 8th through high school):

  • Crew Leader for Elementary Kids:   You will be in charge of 5-7 children, moving them from station to station and helping them with the activities.
  • Crew Leader Assistant for Elementary Kids:   You will be buddied up with a Crew Leader to assist them with moving the children from station to station and helping them with the activities. Great for first time teen volunteers.
  •  Station Assistant for Elementary:   You will be assigned to help an adult leader at an activity station:  science, outdoor games, snacks, bible story adventures, photography, or music/stage/skits for opening and closing segments.  When signing up, please specify which station you prefer.  Please see "Station Descriptions" below.
  • Audio Visual Assistant: Operate audio visual equipment in Social Center during opening and closing segments.  Familiarity with this equipment is required (PC projector, sound, and lights).

Young Teen (entering grades 6th or 7th):

  • Co-Crew Leader for Preschool Kids:   You and a Co-Crew Leader will be in charge of 2-3 preschool children, moving them from station to station and helping them with the activities.
  • Station Assistant for Preschool:   You will be assigned to help an adult leader at an activity station:  crafts, games, bible story adventures, exploration,or music/stage/skits for opening and closing segments. When signing up, please specify which station you prefer.

Adult (age 18 or older); Background check required if working with children):

  • Elementary Station Leader:  Oversee activities and manage teen volunteers at one of the Elementary Kid stations.  When signing up, please specify which station you prefer. Please see "Station Descriptions" below.
  • Preschool Station Leader:  Oversee activities and manage young teen volunteers at one of the Preschool Kid stations.  When signing up, please specify which station you prefer. Please see "Station Descriptions" below.
  • Registration:  Welcome and check-in VBS Participants and Volunteers at the beginning of each day.  Help parents with any special concerns and answer questions. Monitor sign out table at daily pick up.
  • Volunteer Luncheon:  Organize and coordinate a potluck luncheon on Thursday, June 21th (11:30-3:00) to thank all VBS volunteers.  Determine potluck items needed, post on-line sign-up sheets, arrange potluck items and clean up.
  • Audio Visual Leader: Supervise teens operating audio visual equipment in Social Center.  Familiarity with this equipment is required (PC projector, sound, and lights)
  • VBS Planning & Implementation LeadersOversee the following areas:  registration set up, room and stage design, imagination station activities and volunteer coordination

  • Computer work, email communications- can be done from home

  • Decoration Creator: create, cut and collect decorations for the week of VBS

  • Moving Crew: Help move decorations and supplies to next church for their use at the end of our week.  Having a truck would be very helpful

STATION DESCRIPTIONS:

If you are signing up to be a Station Leader (Adults) or a Station Assistant, please select one of the following stations:

 Elementary Station Volunteer Positions (Adults & Teens):

  • Opening and Closing (music/stage/skits for opening and closing segments):   Lead participants in daily opening and closing songs and skits that reinforce the daily Bible message.  Volunteers should enjoy being on stage, acting, and leading kids in singing powerful songs with hand motions to go along with them.  All props and scripts provided.
  • Bible Story Adventures:  Tell and act out Bible stories for participants with expression and enthusiasm.  Volunteers should enjoy drama and acting. Story and set changes daily.  All props and scripts provided.
  • Imagination Station:  Teach kids fun, hands-on science experiments. Volunteers should enjoy teaching, science projects, discovering new things, and working with their hands. All experiments and instructions are provided.
  • Outdoor Games:  Coach participants in fun, outdoor team games encouraging them to cooperate, not compete!  Volunteers should have high energy and enjoy outdoor recreational activities and team sports. A manual with daily instructions for each game, along with all the equipment is provided. .
  • Kid Vid Cinema:  Introduce participants to daily Kid Vid video story about real kids who are following Jesus as they face life’s challenges.  Lead the participants in a discussion about the story and finding Bible verses of the day in the Bible and pass out “Bible Buddies” tags with the daily Bible verse.  Training on how to operate video and projector equipment will be provided.
  • Spotlight VBS:  Take photos of VBS participants and upload them into a slideshow presentation that will be shown each day during closing.  Training on what to do, camera and laptop will be provided.
  • Snacks:  Lead groups of preschool and elementary kids in preparing snacks each day for VBS participants.  Volunteers should enjoy organizing, preparing and serving food, maintaining a clean environment, and supervising crews as THEY make the daily snack. All food and recipes provided.
 

Preschool Station Volunteer Positions (Adults & Young Teens):

  • Exploration Stations:  Lead kids through hands on activities like playing with clay, bible activity pages, and puzzles. Volunteers should enjoy teaching, discovering new things, and working with their hands.  All projects provided.
  • Craft & Play:  Teach the kids several fun craft projects that relate to the Bible point of the day, along with teaching kids a fun, simple science experiment. Volunteers should enjoy crafting, science projects and helping young children with craft supplies.  All projects provided.
  • Games:  Coach preschool participants in fun, team games encouraging them to cooperate, not compete!  Volunteers should have high energy and enjoy games and team sports.  All games, equipment and instructions provided.
  • Bible Story Adventures:  Tell and act out Bible stories for participants with expression and enthusiasm.  Volunteers should enjoy drama and acting. All props and scripts provided.
