Family Faith Formation

"God always knocks at the door of hearts. He likes to do this. It comes from His heart. But, do you know what He likes best? To knock on the doors of families and find families that are united, to find families that love each other, to find the families that bring up their children and educate them and help them to keep going forward and that create a society of goodness, of truth, and of beauty."

~Pope Francis, September 29, 2015

Family Faith Formation is our at-home program for K-8th grade students. The Family Faith Formation program emphasizes the importance of the family forming their faith within the household as well as within the church.

Who: Children grades K through 8th grade

When:  Children will complete their catechism requirement at home with the direction of an online catechist and parent involvement.  There will be 6 faith-building gatherings for grades K-5.  Grades 6-8 will continue to meet monthly with the EDGE program. ***

  • Grades K-5: October 13th, November 10th, December 8th, February 9th, March 9th, April 13th
  • Grades 6-8: Every 2nd Tuesday of the month from September-May

*** Depending on the environment, in-person gatherings may not be possible or will become optional

Where: The gatherings with families of children grades K-5 will take place on the Immaculate Conception School campus. The remainder of the program will take place at home. Grades 6-8 will meet in the Cafeteria or Brown House.

*** If we are unable to gather for any of these meetings throughout the 2020-2021 school year, we will leverage different means, ie. Zoom, virtual packets, etc. to communicate the intended message or theme.

Through the Family Faith Formation program, parents have a wonderful opportunity to explore the practices of the Catholic faith with their children at their own pace. We hope that this approach will encourage the parents and the children to discover the beauty of the Catholic church and to come together as a parish community for events, Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation.

Parents and students are provided with Christ Our Life (published by Loyola Press), Family Life (published by RCL Benziger) textbooks and other religious resources and support from catechists and parish staff. Along with the planned gatherings throughout the year, the children (with assistance from the parents) must complete chapter reviews and submit them online by the due dates.
